Flesh vs. Spirit.
Let’s set the scene.
The garden. The tree. The fruit. The voice of God had already been clear: “Do not eat of it.”
Eve takes the bite. She turns to Adam.
Now pay attention, Adam wasn’t deceived. The Word tells us that. He saw what she did. He knew what God had said. Yet he reached out and took the fruit anyway.
Why?
Because she was his rib. Flesh of his flesh. Bone of his bone. He chose to please his flesh over obeying the Spirit. He made a decision, not with ignorance, but with influence.
He denied the command of God not because he didn’t understand it, but because he didn’t want to disappoint what his flesh desired.
And we still do it. Every. Single. Day. We silence the Spirit to avoid upsetting our flesh.
We let our addictions, our approval cravings, our lusts, our comfort zones, even our relationships, influence our obedience.
Let me ask you this:
Are you willing to disobey God for the rest of your life... just to keep pleasing your flesh?
Because at some point, you’ll have to decide. To pick up your cross or pick up that fruit. To walk by the Spirit or to fall for the whisper of your wants.
Adam had a choice. So do you.
CALL TO ACTION:
This week, every time you're tempted to say yes to your flesh — pause.
Ask: Who am I trying to please right now? My Father or my feelings?
And then: Pray. Fast. Fight.
Make war on your wants and let your spirit lead the way.
